Home Trends You Should Be Aware of in 2023

The year 2023 is just around the corner, and things will likely look a little different than they did the years before. Specifically, the housing market will look quite different. The way people purchase houses will change, but so will the kinds of houses, how they decorate them, and where they choose to purchase them. It’s hard to know what the future will look like, but if you keep reading, you can learn about the different home trends you should be aware of in 2023.

Housing Prices Will Stabilize

It’s hard to predict the price of something in the future, but it’s easy to look at trends and try to connect different factors. Housing prices in 2021 and 2022 were not favorable for the average consumer, but things look like they’ll heal in the next year. Housing prices peaked around June 2022, and they’ve remained in that same ballpark in the months since, if not outright declining.

Many people expected the initial rise in housing prices, and as these prices rose, they tried to jump on the trend. More people were selling, and more were buying, artificially spiking supply and demand. This fervor has declined in the latter half of 2022, and it looks like it will continue to decline, not accounting for other larger economic and market factors.

Minimalist Kitchens

The kitchen is an aspect of every home that homeowners struggle with. It is a room for function, but that doesn’t mean it can’t look pretty and match the aesthetic of the rest of the home. In previous years, many homeowners have used different decorations to give this space some charm. However, the kitchen needs a light touch, and that’s what many are doing and will continue to do into 2023.

Even the coastal homes that have thrived on seashells and other coastal decorations are moving toward minimalism; this is a coastal-style home trend to watch for in 2023. However, it also applies to more traditional homes. The kitchen is a space for cooking, entertaining, and eating with friends and family. Creating a minimalist kitchen without too many bells and whistles is the best way to achieve this vibe.

Embracing Color

Minimalism has taken over a lot of parts of the house, but alongside it has emerged a greater appreciation for color. It can seem like it goes against the minimalist aesthetic, but the two can complement each other if handled carefully. In the last couple of decades, there’s been a great emphasis on grays and neutral tones as they are generally inoffensive, appealing to the widest audience possible. More homeowners recognize this and are experimenting with darker grays, blacks, and more off-the-wall colors, like blues, greens, and reds. The year 2023 will be the time for color experimentation.

The future is here, and if you know these 2023 home trends, you can better understand how to proceed with your home journey. That may mean knowing how to decorate or knowing when to build or buy a new home. There’s a lot to learn about the housing market and different trends, but so long as you aren’t making rash decisions, you should be OK!
