Unique Living Room Accessories That are Bound to Impress

Nobody likes living in a boring space and having a plain living room. To make a big design statement and impress your guests, you need to break with convention and let your imagination run wild. It can be done by simply throwing in some living rooms accessories that will change the entire space and put your personal stamp on the room. We present a few ideas to inspire your imagination.

Wall décor

We are all used to the idea that wall décor is hung on the wall. For a change, we could have a modern art mural painted on the wall directly. One idea you will be especially fond of is having a realistic scene from a historic period painted on the wall and then have a window painted over it creating a visual trick that we are looking through the window. It can be a scene from the future as well.

A less extravagant version of this is just pasting a huge wallpaper photo on the wall, with nature scenes like underwater life, a forest, or a sacred site like Machu Picchu. It still manages to transport you into another dimension without you moving from your couch.

Corner decorations

These can be anything: oversized or undersized objects, real size animal statues, old bicycles turned hangers, vintage screens, old refinished lamps … Having exotic instruments as decorations covers both aesthetics and functionality. Most of them are made of beautiful wood, carved and decorated, and it is likely your guests will be asking “What is that?” and you will go on to explain about your didgeridoo, oud, dilruma, or chapman stick and let them try it out. And that brings the party in. Make sure you have some shakers handy too, to accompany them.

Fireplace

Fireplace is the centre of your house, the proverbial hearth, so special attention should be given to its design. For example, you can have a tiles mosaic around it in any pattern or color combination, but what is even cooler is that you can now color the flame with fire glass red beads that will make your fireplace look amazing. These come in other colors too – imagine changing the color of fire as you wish! Or how about having the fireplace installed inside your living room table? Or even better, hanging from the ceiling in a UFO-like metal container?

Cool carpets

Nine times out of ten, your central carpet makes the atmosphere of the room. Nowadays, you can literally have an additional dimension in your floor – its depth, if you get a 3D carpet. 3D art gives an illusion of depth, so it can look like you have a pool with shark of crocodiles in your floor, a trapped giant or a wild animal prowling right there in your living room. There are also carpets that are textured and printed so that kids can stick toys into them and have a farm or a battlefield with soldiers to play on. An aerial view print carpet will definitely change your guests’ perspective and leave an impression.
