Spring is just around the corner, and your home may be ready for a seasonal makeover. You don’t want to keep that winter look and feel all year round. You need something more fun and lively to spruce up your home décor. Without overspending your budget, there are several easy things you give your home a feeling of fresh air and sunshine.

Change the cushions

You can buy new or used throw cushions for your sofa and chairs in pastel shades that coordinate with your décor. Alternately, cushion covers can be easily sewn in a fabric of your choice for bright new accents in the family room or living room.

Put out the bird feeders

There is nothing like the sound of waking up to birds chirping in the morning. After all, it means that the weather is getting warmer and the birds are migrating back into your area. With that said, you can hang bird feeders from your front and back porch with a little bird seed and you can enjoy watching the birds come and take advantage of your hospitality. And if you are lucky, you may even get a bird or two that is bold enough to build a nest in one of them and watch their chicks hatch.

Add slip covers

For stuffed furniture like sofas and chairs, use inexpensive slip covers for a whole new look. If you already have covers, put the new ones over them or switch them. If you have never used slip covers, give it a try for a fresh upgrade.

Remove heavy drapes

If your windows have lace curtains or attractive blinds beneath the drapery, take down the drapes and let the sunshine in. If your windows are bare, consider hanging new pastel valances over the top of each window to give sunlight access to the interior of your home. If you must have curtains of some kind, put up lightweight cotton curtains that can be easily changed next fall, if desired.

Bring in the flowers

Most supermarkets and florists are already offering springtime blooms like lilies, daffodils, and crocuses. Set some potted plants on tables or stands throughout the main rooms to bring the season of growth indoors.

Add a floral scent

Use a flowery potpourri or room freshener in a spring-like scent to awaken the senses from a dull winter. Rose, lavender, or honeysuckle are just a few of the possibilities that can make the whole house smell fresh.

Get out the patio furniture

Sweep the patio of dry leaves or dust. Then bring out the patio furniture and lawn chairs. Make sure it is clean and rust-free. Add some decorative plants or seedlings to provide an outdoor respite from which to enjoy the lawn and landscape. If you don’t have any patio furniture, it is time to get some. You can find patio furniture at stores like Patio Shoppes of Coral Springs & The Palm Beaches. This way you will be able to enjoy the outdoors of your home in comfort.

Hang a wreath

Add a floral or Easter wreath on the front door to celebrate new life. Springtime buds or colored eggs add a festive touch to the home’s entrance.

With minimal effort and money, you can transition your home from winter drudgery to spring joy. As you walk through each area of your house, look for easy ways like these to freshen, brighten, and renew each nook and cranny.
