The Top Home Projects To Try This Spring

With the warm weather, many people are itching for projects to improve their homes. Even if you built the home yourself, there’s always something you can do to add curb appeal or enjoy the space more. Whether you’re looking to spruce up the inside, the outside, or a combination of both, here are the best spring projects for your home.
Outside Projects
Depending on how new your home is, some of these projects may not apply to you yet, but they’ll still help you get started on the right foot.
Start With the Basics
Start at the top. Inspect your roof, gutters, siding, and windows. If you notice any damage, cracks, water stains, or rot, work on the appropriate repairs or replacements.
Pay Attention to the Details
Once you’ve fixed the main things, move on to the details. Pressure-wash your home, driveway, and walkways to clean off all the winter grime. Wipe down outdoor furniture and clean outdoor rugs so that you’re ready to relax in the warm weather. Touch up or repaint your door, porch, or deck, and while you’re out there, consider making additional updates such as adding new light fixtures. Don’t forget to clean your grill, too.
Inside Projects
Clean and Organize
Start your indoor projects with the basics. Clean your windows, walls, and floors and organize as you go, making note of items you haven’t used for a while that you can donate. To keep from getting overwhelmed, do only one room at a time, and don’t try to do the whole house in one weekend. Make each room its own project.
Make Small Changes
Now that you’ve cleaned and organized everything, consider the small changes you’d like to make. Repainting a room or adding an accent wall will bring new life to a space. If you’d prefer a smaller project, try making or buying new art to hang up. New curtains can also make a big change without too much work on your part.
Redecorate
If you want a bigger project, consider redecorating. This could be as simple as mixing up the layout of a room, adding new throw pillows and rugs, or buying new furniture. Comparing furniture stores online has taken the place of shopping for new furniture in person. Make sure to read reviews of the store and its pieces, read product descriptions for measurements, and check return policies. You want to make sure your new furniture will be worth the price and fit in your space, and you also want to be able to exchange it if there are any mishaps.
This is just a sample of the best spring projects for your home—use them as a springboard. If restaining your deck makes you want to upgrade it, then do so. If redecorating your dining room makes you want to remodel your kitchen, make that your next project. The options are limitless.
