Does your home look old? Have you been wanting to make your home look better, but don’t know what to do for it? If your home lacks elegance, you can make it classier by implementing a few simple procedures.
Choose A Color Theme
You must choose a color palette that has two to three main colors and about four complimentary colors. For example, if you select cream, green, and brown as your main colors, your complimentary colors should be several shades darker or lighter. In this situation, ivory, beige, champagne, and pastel green are great complimentary color choices.
The main items in your home should blend with your color palette. These items include your sofa, shelves, and carpeting. Having a matching color scheme will bring out an impressive design that will give your home a better look rather than just having random wall and carpet colors.
Design A Focal Point
When guests visit your home, there must be a central point that sparks a conversation. The focal point could be a unique painting, a framed mirror, or a vintage couch. All items in the space should blend and support your focal point. However, do not over decorate the space because the room will look busy, which is not elegant. You also don’t want to do anything that could take away from the focal point
Wood Furniture
Contemporary wood furniture always provides a nice touch in the home. This can range from a simple coffee table, to a wooden chair, or to a nice nightstand in the bedroom. If you lack this kind of furniture, you might consider buying it from a place like The New Oak Tree to help provide your home with that missing elegance. However, be sure it complements your color theme and focal point.
Lighting
Use a lamp in your reading area that blends with the style and theme of your home. Ensure that the wire is hidden because someone may trip if it is exposed, which could damage your lamp. Having the wire exposed also takes way the elegance in the room and can make it look messy.
A chandelier is another popular lighting option; it can provide elegance in your dining room, bathroom, or bedroom.
Natural light provides a soft, warm glow in the evening, which highlights your interior décor. If you want to hang drapes or curtains, do not hang them over your windows because they will box in the windows, which will make your ceiling seem short. Instead, hang your drapes or curtains from the ceiling.
Bring Outdoor Elements Into Your Home
Fresh flowers makes indoor spaces more luxurious, so place different bouquets on your coffee tables, mantels, and consoles. You can choose flowers that match your home’s color, or you could choose white flowers; white flowers blend with any décor, and they are simple and sophisticated.
Decorate With Fruit
If your home needs cheerful elegance, place a big bowl of fruits in your kitchen. You can also place a bowl on a coffee table to add casual elegance to your space. However, over time, you must remove any fruit that does not look fresh.
Install Architectural Moulding
All luxurious homes have unique mouldings on the ceilings, baseboards, or chair rails. If your home has narrow moulding, the moulding can be widen easily by using tools from a hardware store.
Keep in mind that there are many more suggestions out there of how to make your home look nice and elegant. However, these suggestions above will help give you a start to making your home look the most nice and elegant on the block.
