When you own a commercial space, it’s so important to be intentional about keeping it clean. After all, when it’s a mess, this is a poor reflection of what your company stands for. If you want to always maintain a beautiful aesthetic, understand that it’s going to take work. Consider the following ways you can work on maintaining a squeaky clean office space at all times.

1. Clean as you go

If you see a piece of paper on the floor, you can pick it up. It doesn’t take anything to remind your employees to clean up after themselves. Make this a rule that’s a part of the company culture. An employee shouldn’t have to be told to do something. If they see something out of place, they can become proactive with providing a solution.

2. Hire professionals for daily cleanings

There are certain tasks you’ll want to outsource to a cleaning company. Tasks like cleaning the toilets and vacuuming are important tasks that you’ll want a professional company to take care of. Depending on the number of employees you have in your building, office cleaning can take a few hours. Consider hiring a company that can come in after business hours are over to do a thorough cleaning job.

3. Use the recommended products

If you have concrete floors, you’re going to need a specific type of product to make sure the floors stay clean and shiny. Concrete floor covering products are definitely wise options. If you have granite countertops in the kitchenette area, don’t settle for the standard cleaning products. Instead, find something that’s specifically for granite countertops. You want the surfaces to polished.

4. Develop an in-house schedule

While it is helpful to have professionals who can come in and clean, it’s also important to remember that you can make certain tasks a part of an employee’s to-do list. Consider assigning some of these responsibilities to the interns. Don’t give them tasks like cleaning the toilets. However, you can make sure they empty the recycling bin that holds the recycled paper. They can do minor chores like cleaning mirrors, windows and sink top surfaces. They can also refill essential oil diffusers or scented plug-ins and replace the toilet paper when it’s running low.

If you ever desire to rent out a portion of the building to potential tenants,  make sure it looks good enough to rent. It’s often said that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This means that it’s better to be proactive rather than reactive. If you maintain a beautiful building over time, it’ll continue to stand as a beautiful edifice that others want to be in. Whenever you decide to sell the property, you’d be able to get a great return on your investment because you took good care of it.
