The swimming pool is a very popular choice in the market of home improvement. While planning for installation of a swimming pool, one has to consider a number of aspects, and one among them is the swimming pool design. Companies have come up with different designs and other options to meet the needs of every home owner. Before choosing a particular swimming pool design, it is very important to be completely aware of the various aspects of the available designs.

The first and the most basic decision that one has to make is to choose between an in-ground and above-ground swimming pool. While taking this first step, you have to consider aspects like your area, budget and the availability of supplies.

In-ground design for swimming pools:

The commonly used materials for making in-ground outdoor swimming pools are concrete, fibreglass and vinyl. Each of these materials has their its advantages and disadvantages.

Concrete is most durable and most versatile among these three materials and this is the reason that it is the most popular. However, the disadvantage of concrete is that it is time-consuming to install and the installation procedure is difficult.

Fibreglass is a shell, which is prefabricated. It is the most inexpensive and easy to install. It ranks above vinyl when it comes to durability. However, it is not as versatile as vinyl.

With vinyl designs, a steel frame is coated with a vinyl lining. Its versatility is at par with concrete. It is cheaper than concrete, and installation is simpler. However, during its installation, care is to be taken to prevent the vinyl lining from being ruptured.

Regional differences play a major role in deciding which swimming pool design is best suited for a particular home owner. A detailed discussion with a local contractor will be very helpful in making a decision about which material to choose and the design.

Above-ground design for swimming pools:

When you have decided to install an above-ground swimming pool, then you have to make a choice between a soft-sided pool and a hard-sided pool. Soft-sided pools cost less, but they are not very durable. These outdoor swimming pools are an ideal choice for those home owners who want to install a pool especially for their kids. Hard-sided pools are available in various price ranges and levels of durability to meet an individual’s need. A common misconception is that they are harder to maintain. However, this is a fallacy. It’s just that even the cheapest above-ground pools need good-quality filters and good cleaning systems to ensure a low level of maintenance is needed.

Custom swimming pool designs:

One can go for high-end swimming pools, which are custom-designed to meet the needs and preferences of a home owner. These are specially designed to meet the luxury requirements and to complete the ambience of the yard. The initial step is to create an organic shape that is appealing and perfectly fits into the dimensions of the yard. One can go for a combination of pool and spa. This will be expensive as compared to only a pool, but it will save you the expenses of installing both of these separately.

The normal things like customer support, resources you will get, reliability, uptime, and the precise location of the hosting company all play a role
